It’s hard to capture Glencoe in words, yet even a glimpse of this majestic Scottish glen leaves an indelible impression. Framed by towering Munros, carved by ancient forces, and steeped in centuries-old lore, Glencoe feels like both a place of beauty and a heartbeat from the past. For me, it’s more than scenery; it’s a journey into the legacy of my ancestors—whose lives were woven into this land. As cattle rustlers, they once roamed the glen, echoing the resilience and rugged spirit that defines Glencoe even today. Returning here feels like reconnecting with the roots of an ancient heritage and the heart of Scotland itself.

I recently had the chance to drive the North Coast 500, an unforgettable circuit through the wild beauty of Scotland. On my way back, I lingered in Glencoe, captivated by the grandeur of the Bidean nam Bian peaks and the moody skies draping the valley. This was more than a stopover—it was a rekindling of a deep-rooted call to explore, to immerse myself in the vastness of Scotland’s landscapes, and perhaps, one day, to bring others along through retreats that reveal the soul of the Highlands.
There’s an almost sacred feeling to standing among these mountains. I can picture future Solace & Sky retreats here, inviting others to experience the thrill of scaling Munros, breathing in the pure Highland air, and finding solace in this sweeping natural sanctuary.

Imagine guided hikes up these rugged slopes, meditative moments by serene lochs, and evenings shared around fires as tales of the past intermingle with newfound camaraderie.
This landscape—both humbling and empowering—offers a boundless setting for personal renewal and adventure.
Until then, I’ll continue to dream of Glencoe, where my past meets my present, and where each peak promises discovery, wonder, and a wild, timeless allure.
